Cryobiology is the study of cell and tissue freezing processes. These procedures have allowed the preservation of cells and tissues for prolonged periods, generally maintaining their biological properties once thawed. In cryobiology, freezing/thawing and vitrification/shoring are used, so it’s possible to preserve cells at very low temperatures, usually without affecting or with little effect on their structure and function.
This assisted reproduction technique allows the cryopreservation of gametes (eggs and sperm) to offer women and men the possibility of preserving their fertility and their future use.
